We put in a "Van" Loadout spout and scale at work this spring/summer and it is quite interesting to say the least!! The 2 pictures that are on top are of the trucks unloading at our terminal elevator in Kansas City. The lower 2 pictures are of trucks at our facility in Levant. The "vans" are just trailers with nothing in them and the truckers are looking to get some freight $$ back to KC. We put in a loadout spout that is OUT OF THE WAY and they BACK onto the cement platform that is also a scale....this means that I don't have to deal with all of the trucks! The paperwork etc is all handled outside. Knock on wood, but none of the truckers have barrelled over the side of the barrier or flew too far back against that cement ledge. Probably the best part of this whole process is to explain to them just how they will get the wheat out of their truck once they get to KC. When we explain to them that they will back their truck onto the lift and get out of the truck and watch their truck go into the air-we get some CRAZY looks!! One guy even asked me where the camera was because he was just sure he was on Candid Camera!! Explaining to the truckers how to get to Levant is also a bit tricky because they are so used to the cities and think there must be 15 turns before getting here. They can't imagine that we are just an exit off of I-70 and straight North 1 mile-big white elevator, CAN'T MISS IT....well, yeah-they can miss it and they do miss it!! Of course with our group of personalities at Bartlett-we have a complete hay-day with all of this!! Gotta keep laughing!! Have a great day......
